I got webbie of the year!!!! 2008 Australian
Line Dance Awards

Voting for the 2008 awards is now open

Please Read! Held in conjunction with the Australian Country Line Dancing Championships. Results announced January 2009, Tennis Club, Tamworth.

You can vote in as many of the categories as you like, every month. Instructors are encouraged to collect votes from their classes & socials and submit them monthly (sample voting form - right click & save). See below for rules. Please include your name when voting! The more people & classes that vote, the more truly representative the results.

Please note that these awards are not for technical merit ('the best', 'most prolific', 'most talented' etc). The winners are those dances & people with the most votes in each section. It's that simple. As such these are popularity awards. It's not necessarily the best dance that wins, just the one with the most votes. Voting is open to anyone living in Australia (and votes come from almost every state .. hello Tasmania? Anyone there?). Voting is not restricted in any other way - you don't need to pay for a magazine subscription in order to vote! Voting is also open from Tamworth until the end of the year so that dances released early in the year have a chance - this isn't perfect but at least the results do not show what's the most popular in December. Just remember, there's no such thing as a perfect voting system (just look at the elections!) If you disagree with a result, make your opinion count and vote!

While the rules do not exclude older dances, ideally voting is for dances released since November, 2007

Voting
 rules etc:

Email your votes (you don't have to vote in every category) to Dave Powell. Internet votes will be combined with votes personally collected by committee members& those submitted via The Grapevine magazine to determine the winners in each category. Voting open to Australian residents.
In order to encourage more individual votes and votes from smaller classes and reduce the bias from large groups, class votes will be scaled on a monthly basis (individual votes are counted as is). Class votes are totalled for the month and any one instructor/club is assigned 10 votes per category a month and the actual votes will be scaled accordingly. This means instructors with large classes will not swamp the votes. The following tables illustrate:
More than 10 votes from a class in a category:
Dance
Original Vote
Scaled Vote
Fly Baby Fly 18
7
Burn It 5
2
Bootscootin' Boogie 3
1
Less than 10 votes from a class in a category:
Choreographer
Original Vote
Scaled Vote
Robbie McGowan Hickie 4
8
Barry Amato 1
2
You may vote once every month until voting closes (around 1st week January).  When voting for a dance please include the choreographer's name since there may be more than one dance with the same name. You need to include your name when voting. Anonymous votes are not counted.
The awards committee reserves the right to alter a voter's categories where necessary (eg: a foreign dance is voted in an Australian category) and to reject multiple monthly votes.
