In-Line Dancers

June Solah & the In-Line Dancers

Having never danced a step in my life, I started line dancing in August 1995 with Kristine Lowe-Volkman at Panania RSL Club. This opened up a while new world of never ending fun and friendship.

In February 1996, being involved with a Kogarah group looking for a form of exercise, I started teaching beginner dances. It was great fun; I'd learn a dance one day and teach my group the next day. TALK ABOUT THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND!!

I started another beginner class in February 1997 with a Sutherland group.

From these two groups, with several enthusiastic students, we formed the In-Line Dancers with the purpose of entertaining and bringing pleasure to others. Our very first performance was July 1999 at the Aged Care Centre at Sutherland Hospital and we were overwhelmed with the appreciation received. We have not looked back. Our Team has grown over the years and in 2004 alone, we entertained and brought lots of smiles to residents in 57 nursing homes, 19 day care & church fellowship groups and 12 sundry community organisations. Our policy is not for financial reward, but for the joy we bring to others, mainly those lonely aged people in nursing homes.

My dance classes have expanded to five different venues weekly, covering all levels, mainly in the Southern Suburbs, with a great group in Camden who keep me "on my toes".

No students are made to feel obligated to have to join the In-Line Dancers Demonstration Team.

I'm not a champion dancer by any means - I've never won a medal and never will. I competed with a Southern Cross large team at Yallah in 1999 and just about had a nervous breakdown. Never again! I'm not a competitive person at all, I just want to have lots of fun, lots of exercise and, of course, a bit of mental stimulation doesn't hurt, but definitely NO STRESS!

I am though, I believe
(hope I'm not the only one), a good teacher. For those who know me personally, I am a professional Cake Decorator and Tutor of Sugar Art. I'm a fully qualified TAFE teacher with accredited training in all aspects of communication and methods of instruction.
