I make no claim regarding the accuracy of this chart; the original sources are not free from error and a degree of guesswork is involved in genealogy. Last revision: 8/4/2001 (c) David Powell, http://roots-boots.net/ft/names.html Reference numbers are denoted by [..]'s and are listed at the end of each section (seperated by a line of *'s). Numbering begins anew with each section. Note that "Stowe Nine Churches" is the present day village of "Church Stowe", which is 11km west of the city of Northampton, near the intersection of the A5 and A45 highways. Weedon Bec lies 2km to the north of Church Stowe, at the intersection of the A5 and A45. Little Brington is 9km north-west of Northampton, 7km north of Church Stowe. Long Buckby is 14km north-west of Northampton, in the same direction as Little and Great Brington. 13. John Capell, born about 1565, probably at or near Stowe, Co Northamptonshire, England.[1] Married Margerie Elliott, 28/7/1586, Stowe Nine Churches, Northamptonshire.[2,3] Margerie was possibly the Margerie Elliott who was baptised 1569, Stowe Nine Churches, Northamptonshire.[2] Children of John Capell and Margerie Elliott: i. [9] The marriage of John to Alice, prior to his marriage to Joane, has been questioned by other researchers. However, no trace of children have been found for John and Joane prior to 1657, at which time John was 43yo. It seems very unlikely to me that John married and had his first child in his mid 40's. Much more likely is that John was previously married. Weedon Bec is 2km north of Church Stowe ("Stowe Nine Churches"). The only village closer is Upper Stowe, 1km to the south. ************************************************* 10. However, it probably draws on the work of Rev. George Irwin who assembled an Irwin family tree from parish records. [3] Joseph's death certificate gives his parents as "Joseph & Charlotte W" Atkins of County Herefordshire. [4] Some references give Joseph's year of birth as 1811. This is unlikely given the dates for John & Winifred's other children.[2,3, and see also [7] in the next section, Joshua's obituary].
